Earth Day Dance Celebration
We Belong to Each Other
Earth Day with Wisdom Dances
Join Wisdom Dances for a roving dance celebration that honors the earth, water, and our communities.
Dance is not only an expression of aliveness; to dance is to participate in aliveness. Life is a dance and by dancing we give energy to life. You are not the only one who is renewed and energized through the joy of dance. Even if you have never danced with us before, you can participate in consciously directing the power of singing and dancing for the benefit of all beings.
This celebration draws inspiration from springtime dance traditions from the Balkans where girls would dance from house to house in the village to bring blessing to each member of the community. The simple traditional circle dances in this celebration emphasize connection and presence and are inclusive of all ages. Female-identified and non-binary folk are invited to dance with us. Men are welcome to accompany us in support.
Musicians Greg Herriges (bouzouki & guitar) and Amina West (percussion) will be accompanying us. In celebration the Wisdom Dances “bees” will be dressed in our Bulgarian-inspired ritual costume. It will be a festive day!
Sunday April 27, 1:00 - 4:00 PM
3 ways to participate for all or part of the time (see below).
We Belong to Each Other
Every celebration begins and ends by the water - along the way we spread joy with the community around us. Past celebrations have brought us into many parks and festivals, even homes and hospitals.

Lucy has been part of Earth Day Celebration for many years and says:
“The Earth Day Celebration fills me with the feeling that I “bee”long to a “bee”utiful community! Beeing in community cultivates love and care for each other and the earth.”
Earth Day is an embodied act of love for the earth, our Mother. Just like the river flows through out city, our dancing is the flowing of love in community.

Three ways to join with the “dancing bees”
Meet up with us by 1 PM and join us for the first dance that launches our journey. Dancing on your part is not even required - we welcome the support of surrounding community.
Dance with us all day long.
Meet up with us when we return to Hidden Falls Park around 3:30 and join in the closing dance celebration.
Please pre-register below so you receive final event details and weather related updates.
We will begin gathering at Hidden Falls Park, North Gate, St. Paul, in the parking lot for the picnic shelter at 12:30 PM.
We will depart by carpool at 1:00 sharp. Carpooling will help us stay together and concentrate the joy. Folks who are dancing (women and non-binary), please wear a skirt. Black, white, and yellow are our unofficial colors.
The essence of this event is about honoring the gifts we’ve received and giving in return. There is no charge to participate yet there are many costs to prepare for and hold this celebration; donations to Eye of the Heart Center for Creative Contemplation are appreciated.
If you are interested in being with us in support, reach out and let us know and we can share more details.
